Guilt should NEVER result from food!

NO negative emotions should be felt towards food, ever! Today I’ll be touching on why you feel this way and what you can do to progress forward.

First, there is one reason you feel guilt and shame or demonize certain foods. It all goes back to this one single basis! This is something that has always been shoved down our throats in some form or another. It is… drum roll please!

The 71 billion dollar DIET industry. Mind you, has a 5% success rate🤔 But how? Why?

For one, the draw in typically feeds off of your insecurities. “Lose that muffin top” “Do this diet to fit into your pre pregnancy jeans” etc. All sound familiar?

Diets are intended to be followed for a specific amount of time with an end date. Um, if you ask me that’d be like seeing into the future prior to getting into a toxic relationship that you know has a 95% chance of a horrible break up! I mean would you still go on that first date? I wouldn’t!😂

A diet only allows you to eat specific foods while following one. In some form or another it demonizes certain foods. For example; keto/low carb demonizes carbs in all forms. Even FRUIT! I’m sorry but that right there is a major red flag!🚩 Fruit is essential at providing antioxidants, vitamins, & minerals. I hate to break it to you but wether you’re eating 1600 calories of “keto approved” food vs. 1600 calories of a well balanced diet, you’d still lose the same amount of weight! Yes even if it were 1600 calories of pizza and cookies(though I do not recommend this 😂).
So maybe JUST maybe a well balanced diet is not only more sustainable but shoot, more enjoyable in the long haul! After all, that’s what life should be about; enjoyment!

The demonizing of certain foods that have been labeled “off limit” at one point or another causes mental turmoil. So even while you are not following a diet you’re internally thinking “I shouldn’t be eating this, this is bad” “I need to go back on a diet” etc. Most likely leading to overeating because of the negative feelings and the thought of not having it again, in hopes to then restrict on yet another diet. Creating a miserable cycle of binging and restricting which feels like it has no end in sight.

So what can you do if you want to take on a healthier lifestyle and/or lose weight sustainably without toxic culture? Creating realistic choices should do it!

•This involves a protein, carb, and fat source each meal or snack time.
•Listening to YOUR hunger cues. *helpful tip: eat slow/chew each bite fully.
•Adding vegetables in where you can. I recommend lunch and dinner.
•Up your fiber intake. Aim for 21 grams for women and 30 grams for men.
•Drink the recommended 2 liters of water daily.
•Keep enjoying your favorite foods; learning moderation and balance with all foods. *helpful tip: again, listen to huger cues and become mindful that there is always more tomorrow.
•Move your body at least 3-4 times a week.
•Give yourself grace and take each day as it comes! You got this!

Stay sustained out there 💪🏼
