Learn Your Hunger Rhythms!
Being healthy is so much more than “just eat less.”
All fad diets cause your body to be in an extreme deficit which is why they can work(for a period of time) but eventually backfire. You don’t ever actually learn how your body functions, what feels best for YOU individually, or basic nutrition knowledge for that matter.
If I personally don’t eat every 3-4 hours I will begin to get “hangry” (just ask my husband😂) I know my bodys natural hunger rhythms so I typically plan my meals out every 2.5-3 hours. Now for me specifically, this works! This has also taken time to feel what works best for me. Sometimes it’s hard to plan if I have a day out or weekend away but I still put forth the effort because I know my body and I know the consequences if I don’t fuel the beast!
For the vast majority, waiting as long as you possibly can to eat typically leads to that saying we all know “your eyes becoming bigger than your stomach.” This leads to overeating which can cause a domino of less nutritious choices and discouragement towards yourself.
Naturally there will be days that you may have a larger appetite than other days. This is completely normal, we are human! For women this often falls around the time of the month. I always encourage my clients to become aware of this, honor the hunger, and move forward.
On another note: that old saying that eating frequently speeds up your metabolism has actually been debunked, so scientifically you CAN eat all your calories at once while still reaching your goals… BUT like I mentioned before, this may not be the best decision for most! Especially when active! Balanced meals before and after exercise can lead to better performance, more energy through out the day, a better mentality around food/meals, and even satisfaction.
I urge you to really tune into your body this week. Begin to listen to your bodys natural hunger cues and find what works best for YOU! What works for me may not work for you and that’s completely fine.
Stay sustained out there! 💪🏼
