The 3 foods I don’t eat as a nutrition coach!
#1
I’m walking through the grocery store and in the distance I see that distinct packaging we all know so well from our childhood. There’s literally an entire isle dedicated to this item but this one is the worst of them all! I finally get close to that specific orange rectangle box and cannot stand the thought of eating the contents within.
It’s frosted mini wheats cereal. Why you ask? Because I don’t like them. You don’t have to force yourself to eat food that you don’t like. That’s no way to live! (This was extremely difficult to come up with because I’m not a very picky person)

A few weeks ago I bought an off brand cottage cheese and when I realized what was inside this container I almost tossed my cookies! As I was scooping a serving into a bowl, I knew it look a little off as I regularly eat cottage cheese. As soon as I read the container through and through, I read something that made me rinse the bowl clean and toss the entire container out dramatically!
It was expired cottage cheese! By about three days. Yuck!🤢 (Shame on you Walmart, you owe me cottage cheese) Definitely avoid expired or spoiled food. You don’t want to wound up sick. As for a generic brand, it can result in saving your pocket a bit. If the taste isn’t compromised and you like it, get it! Just remember to check the expiration date before purchasing!😂

Every now and again we grab an easy dinner for our family of five. Months ago we ate at one of the most well known fast food chains. McDonald’s! After I ate a basic cheeseburger and fries I began feeling stomach pains and felt a familiar feeling. Just very unwell! This is a feeling that lasted nearly 24 hours following and I came to remember I feel this way everytime I eat burgers from McDonald’s. So I said you know what, I’m not going to eat McDonald’s burgers anymore because it never agrees with me. I would personally rather have a burger from In-n-out since I don’t feel sick when I eat them. (Or simply get a different item of the McDonald’s menu)
If you don’t feel good when you eat something don’t eat it. Simple as that! Especially if you have been diagnosed with a chronic illness such as; Crohn’s disease, Irritable bowel syndrome, etc. Other than that, occasional fast food is not going to kill you or ruin your progress on a weigh loss/fitness journey. If you enjoy McDonald’s cheeseburgers and don’t feel ill when having them, more power to you! Enjoy!
Yep that’s it! Foods that:
•I don’t like
•Are spoiled or expired
•Don’t make me feel good when I consume them
Are you surprised? Here’s the thing, your nutrition as a whole has much more significance than “eating fast food” or so called “toxic” ingredients every now and again. It’s not what you do sometimes, it’s what you do the MAJORITY of the time!
Look out for my next blog debunking the fear mongering that lies over preservatives, artificial ingredients, & so called “toxic” ingredients.😉
Stay sustained out there!💪🏼
