The Diet Industry Does Not Want You To Know This Secret! Shhh!

I’ll be sharing the biggest secret of the diet industry while uncovering a very basic method which you can apply for weight loss instead of stupid dieting.

The multi billion dollar industry will never come out and tell you this secret because it would destroy them for good. (Which is the path they’re going down, woohoo!) This secret applies whether you have done the slim fast diet from the 80s or the keto diet that has risen in recent years. And literally EVERY single diet that has ever existed in between.

This is the only reason you ever lost weight while following these diets. It may come as a surprise because it’s so simple!

Your body was in a…

CALORIC DEFICIT!

A caloric deficit is eating slightly below your bodies maintenance calories. Your maintenance calories are specific to you as an individual but these diets typically result in an extremely low deficit (which I highly recommend against.) Extremely low deficits are unsustainable and can be harmful!

Now you might be thinking well isn’t any deficit harmful? A moderate deficit specific to YOU is way more sustainable, doable, and not harmful(unless you have medical conditions.)

Imagine having known this when you did all those crazy restrictive diets! When you cut out your favorite treats because diet culture told you that you were only allowed x,yz. You could have fit all your favorite once; “forbidden foods” into a specific number range and still lost the weight. Its just numbers! Its called science y’all! How have we been so easily fed the BS for too long? Ugh, it’s alright! You’ve made it here now!

As you know by now, I’m super anti diet. Like if the diet industry was a person I’d tell her to meet me after school so I could round house her in the jaw! Not really😂 BUT with that said, I’m certainly not anti health/weightloss/goals. If you have the desire to lose weight, awesome! I’ll help guide you in a sustainable direction while ensuring you walk away with lifelong knowledge! Along with never feeling deprived and without the mental stress caused by toxic diets.

What I’m about to share is very basic so if you want specifics I can calculate your calories and macros absolutely free. Fill out a form. *disclaimer: I am not a doctor, if you have underlying health conditions consult your doctor or a dietitian.

A simple way to determine a starting point for a caloric deficit is by taking your (goal weight) x 12. Be realistic! I know me at 5’6 couldn’t healthily weigh 120 pounds. For example let’s say you currently weigh 170 pounds and your goal weight is 150 pounds. (150 x 12) This will put you at 1800 calories. Typically you want to stick to this number for a month before reevaluating.

*If you have a lot of weight to lose than I suggest taking it in 20-30 pound increments rather than goal weight.

Now if you’re not looking to lose much but want to recomposition your body; meaning lose fat and gain muscle simultaneously, than you’ll more than likely start at maintenance calories. More often than not especially women, do not consume enough calories CONSISTENTLY. Maintenance can be found by (current weight) x 15. This is a great starting point! Stick to it and reevaluate in a month.

Muscles love fuel! Don’t be afraid to eat! Focus on what your adding into your diet rather than restricting anything. More protein, fiber & veggies does the trick!
